  we brits are being bombarded with facts and speculation about the horrific consequences of either corbin or johnson getting into power .

  another thread has discussed the anti-semitic leanings ( or not ) of corbin .

  what do people think about the left's claims that boris would sell off the nhs ,only this morning l saw a post on fb saying that " america is demanding full access to nhs records " it has been pointed out by a political reporter on the bbc that the talks that the papers were leaked about happened before johnson became pm and these were just things that have been put on the negotiating table by the usa .

  back in the 1960s there was, seemingly, a brief period of relaxation in authoritarianism among jehovah's witnesses.

  those who have read raymond franz's 'crisis of conscience' will have heard the story about dan sydlik's remark about the need to 'open some windows to let some air in here'.

  i get the feelings that stephen lett tries to come across as mr. rogers but there are times it oozes through that he is a lot more dominant and controlling then he lets on.

  How old is old?

  having a conversation with a pimi elder and i asked him how he deals with the fact that he never expected to get old.

  i get the feeling that some dubs still have the original generation explanation hard-wired, even though they claim to accept the new version.

  so my question is, how old do you have to be to be considered old?

  Older JWs who go Overseas to Live

  i know of two older couples who have gone overseas to live in recent years.

  one could be classified in my opinion as a “need greater” although i think it might also have to do with getting more for their money.

  the other i think was seeking out a cheaper and more naturally beautiful environment to live in their retirement years.. what i wondered is if these people are disenchanted and bored with life in the states.

  i live " overseas" from England UK....on the isle of Wight. but its only a 20 minute fast ferry ride away. like most who moved here--it started with summer holidays. i moved when i was 23--most wait till they retire.

  when i did move here--i was stll attending meetings--and within 12 months other families also moved in, the congregation doubled in size.

  its a peaceful place to live..mild climate most of the year. the reason many retire here is financial downsizing. anyone selling up in London can buy similar here for a quarter of the price--yet its only 70 miles away.

  Jehovah's house for Sale?

  when i drive by the kingdom hall i grew up attending at but, was sold directly to a church, i get angry.

  the elders who handled the sale didn't even remove the watchtower shaped bricks on each side of the sign near the street so, now they advertise for a baptist church.

  how many times as i grew up i heard things like: you should not do work ( such as clean carpets for a church) you wouldn't want to work at a cigarette making plant or a facility that makes bombs for the military.

  i don't normally bother with the gutter press, but this was interesting.. what they didn't show was that the faces of the kids, probably due to their age.. i saw the picture before it was pixelled out.

  interesting that the kids with the machettes looked like members of the religion of peace.. just sayin'.. interesting to see what low life scum the film was about.. good grief, can't the jobos be right and armageddon(tm) come?.

  these violent kids are not "immigrants"--they are all born here--even their parents--and probably grandparents. they are beyond the law and any parental control. so we need a radically different control method.

  like this:

  widely publicise an inter-gang fight..to take place on a specific date--at a vacant football stadium. sell lots of tickets to spectators. gangs then fight each other on the pitch. sounds familiar ? but no firearms allowed--only hand held weapons of each gang members choice. when the whistle blows--the gangs have at each other. any left standing after 90 minutes are shot.

  the romans would have loved this.

  any better ideas ?
